Installing Grass Sod
Once installed by our professional team, our grass sod takes only 2-3 weeks to become fully established and ready for use.
Key Benefits of Installing a Grass Sod Lawn
A Grass Sod Lawn Means Less Maintenance
A professional grass sod lawn needs no special care because it is a healthy mature lawn when installed. (Whereas a sprigged or seeded lawn requires years of nurturing to reach maturity.) Our sod is grown from quality seed blends or certified hybrid sprigs.
Once it’s installed, just add water, mow and fertilize. Your lawn will remain a healthy, rich green carpet of grass — requiring very little maintenance.
You Can Install Grass Sod Almost Anywhere
You can install grass sod practically anywhere, even where seeding is impossible, or too costly. Grass sod is often used to stop soil erosion and water pollution on slopes where rain would wash away seeds and soil.
Our sod is available in a variety of grass blends to suit various needs such as climate, amount of usage, sun or shade conditions.
Holds Up to Heavy Usage
Sod establishes itself quickly. In just a couple of weeks, it’s ready for full use. In addition, grass sod creates the perfect surface for lawn games and family outdoor living.
With today’s various blends of hardy grasses, our sod is chosen for parks, golf courses, athletic fields. We also regularly serve residential homes and business parks.

Types of Grass Sod
Sod is composed of grass and the part of the soil beneath it held together by its roots.
Our sod is pre-grown rolls of grass that are mature, weed-free, fertilized — and ready to transform your yard instantly.
Brumfield Sod Farms strives to offer the highest quality of service and products possible.
Listed below are the different types of sod we offer. We also include some general information that will help you choose the correct sod for your project.
Fescue Sod
We offer Southern Supreme Fescue Sod which is a mixture of several well performing varieties, and a straight Falcon II variety.
Fescue sod does well in almost all management practices from simply mowing the grass to intensive methods including frequent fertilization, pesticide applications, and irrigation.
Fescue should be mowed to no less than 3½ inches. It also needs to be fertilized with 1½ lbs. of Nitrogen per 1000 sq. ft. in the fall.
Bermuda Grass Sod
Bermuda grass is a warm-season grass. It is very similar to zoysia grass in texture and characteristics.
Bermuda spreads faster than zoysia so bare spots will repair themselves quicker. It also grows vertically slightly faster so it must be mowed more frequently. It can be kept at heights from 1-2½ inches.
Keeping Bermuda Grass at the higher height reduces frequency of mowing. Bermuda Grass also goes dormant in the winter, like zoysia grass; the maintenance requirements are the same.
Bluegrass Sod
Our bluegrass sod is a mixture of several varieties of bluegrass which has good uniform color and it performs well in most conditions.
Bluegrass does best when it’s kept between 2 and 3 inches tall. It also needs 1½ lbs of Nitrogen (applied in the fall) to maintain its rich green color.
If it’s not irrigated, Bluegrass can be prone to going dormant in the hot summer months. However, when the temperatures cool off and the fall rains begin, it quickly comes out of dormancy.
Zoysia
Zoysia grass is another warm season grass. However, Zoysia thrives in Kentucky. Anyone who feels it describes it as, “Like walking on carpet.” Even while dormant, it remains springy to the touch and has a clean appearance. Zoysia requires less maintenance than most any other grass, and it can be mowed anywhere from 1-3½ inches.
